International Bereaved Mother's Day is a day to honor and celebrate the mothers who carry children in their hearts rather than their arms. It is a special day to support and honor women who have lost a child of any age, including those who have lost a child due to miscarriage, stillbirth, and infant loss. It is held annually on the first Sunday of May, one week before Mother's Day. This year International Bereaved Mother's Day is being held on May 2, 2021.
Butterfly Baskets is hosting our inaugural Bereaved Mother's Day event on May 2nd from 11 AM - 2 PM at Style Masters Salon in Malvern, PA. The first 100 bereaved mothers to attend will receive a tea cup gift, including a beautiful Lilly Pulitzer mug.
As part of the event, we will also be hosting a donation drive. We are requesting donations of fuzzy socks, journal/notebooks, spa or bath products, and butterfly gift items. Donations help us to provide our Butterfly Baskets at no-cost to hospitals and doctors' offices and their patients experiencing loss.
We will also be hosting two fundraisers as part of this event:
Mother's Day self-care gift baskets for sale
Online gift basket raffle
Australian Carley Marie Dudley first created this special day in 2010. For more information about her inspiration for establishing Bereaved Mother's Day, visit her article on Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep's blog.
